Fool's gold...
Something that seems so precious, so valuable, that you will do/give up anything or advance any argument to obtain it... Then when you have it, you realise that what you have gained is really not worth what you gave up. More bluntly, you realise it has nearly no value!
That's what I predict the casinos in Singapore will turn out to be. After a brief boom, interest will wane and business will decline... I'm not big on prophecy but I make this statement as a prediction. What will the government do then? Admit its mistake and close the casinos? My foot. They will open up entry to all Singaporeans so as to maximise the catchment population for the casinos... They'll say that it's the pragmatic thing to do.
Casino - Carcino... not too much difference...
Oh Lord, deliver us from evil men...

yah... how can the government value money more important than moral values? think about the number of families that has been destroyed by habitual gamblers... i can't imagine how much worse can it get...
the world is changing.
the end is near.
I was watching the highlights of Parliament and I was not at all amused... one minister was talking about a mother and daughter who came to him about buying a new flat as her family as they were being harassed by loan sharks who were after the dad who had borrowed money from them... and this was because he was a heavy gambler... the minister said he was very saddened by this story yet in the same breath he said that he backed the casino for pragmatic reasons... The casino will create jobs... 10000 more gambling and suicide counsellors...
Read an article by one of the ministers..was disgusted and wondered how ppl could be so blind. In short, he thinks that since most Singaporean gamble anyway, it wouldn't make a difference bringing the casinos into the country. And to top it off, he thinks,"Why let other countries gain from our country's gamblers?" We should reap the 'benefits' of our gambling! Hah! His solution to the downsides? More counsellors and other preventive measures. Hmph! Come on...What kind of prevention is gonna help when casinos are at our doorstep?? And TWO for that matter! Sheesh.
On the positive side... Loh Meng See for PM! The lone PAP dissenter... Described as a staunch Christian... He criticised his colleagues for taking the gambling issue so lightly...
The government only thinks in $ and c... PAP... Punt After Punt...
